Savannah will host a “Get Your Rear in Gear” 5K race on Saturday, March 3rd. Sign up to run, volunteer or donate to one of the many teams raising money for the Colon Cancer Coalition.

The Colon Cancer Coalition works with health care providers, corporations and the media to encourage people to become educated about colon cancer and to get timely, life-saving cancer screenings.

According to an article in the Savannah Morning News, “The new policy – which bans cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco and other tobacco products as well as electronic cigarettes – will be implemented at the beginning of the Fall 2012 semester.”

The event will be held at 7 p.m. at the Exchange Club of Brunswick Fairgrounds.

The Opening Ceremony begins at 7 p.m., followed by a Survivor Lap at 7:15. The Kids’ Walk begins at 8, and the Luminaria Ceremony is at 9 p.m.

Your reasons for walking in the Relay For Life are as unique and special as the story that motivates you. This is your opportunity to not only honor cancer survivors and remember people we have lost, but also to raise funds and awareness to help save lives. Because of your support, we are creating a world where cancer can’t claim another year of anyone’s life. You are helping create a world with less cancer and more birthdays!
