Changing Times, Changing Outlooks
The film named “Changing Times, Changing Outlooks” was produced as part of a revised teaching paradigm to address cancer screening. The “film” is a result of conversations with LOCAL SEGMENTS of the African American community to understand why so many don’t seek needed medical care –especially cancer screening. In it, we frankly address the historical, racial and socioeconomic realities that have produced such cultural barriers as distrust, fear, prejudice and anxiety.
We produced this film to publicly acknowledge these unspoken factors. But, more importantly, we hope it will initiate open and honest discussion and motivate change. Our ultimate goal is to increase the number of African Americans seeking out screening, diagnosis, treatment and clinical trials for cancer in southeast Georgia.
